This test provides a useful snapshot of the male dominant hormones, DHEAs, testosterone, estradiol, estriol and estrone. The aromatization of testosterone to estrogen is not a preferred feature of hormone metabolism and looking at the levels of estrogen will allow the practitioner to identify any potential for prostate stimulation by estrogen so that steps can be taken to deal with it. This test is most appropriate for males with a BMI of >30 or with symptoms of estrogen dominance as estrone and estriol are often elevated due to increased body fat stores.
